Student Support: The Welfare Team

Selwyn College offers pastoral and peer support through its team of welfare staff, Sub-wardens, Senior Residents (SRs) and Night Porter. These people are available for residents experiencing difficulties of any kind, who are in need of advice, or simply want to chat. The College is staffed 24 hours a day.

At any one time two SRs and one Sub-warden are on duty. The duty team can be reached by calling 222 from within the College. SRs are also backed up by the Warden and the Chaplain, to whom they are able to refer residents when appropriate.

At the beginning of each year, the welfare team receives training from University support staff and external organisations in areas such as:

The College's welfare team is also trained to refer residents to University support staff and/or external organisations when appropriate. Residents are also encouraged to seek support directly from these sources if they feel able to do so. Contact details are given below.
